About this block

This block first appeared in print in Farm Journal magazine, the same farm publishing culture that spread many patchwork patterns across the country in the early-to-mid 20th century. It's built from half-square triangles arranged into pinwheel units, giving it enough visual movement that quilters often choose whether to set individual blocks straight or on point to vary the overall look across a quilt top.
