Night and Day is strip-pieced from an outer color and an inner color sewn into one strip set. Cut four right triangles from that set, alternate the tips, and sew them together to make the finished block. The hourglass-and-trapezoid look is what you see after the triangles are joined, not separate pieces to cut.
