Spiderweb Star
About this block
This block is a variation on the Mill and Stars family, a four-point star built around a center windmill motif, but with narrow stripe-pieced strings radiating outward through the background in place of plain fabric, giving the block the layered, web-like look that gives it its name. Mill and Stars itself traces to the 1897 Ladies Art Company catalog under the name "Four Point," and this striped variation follows that same underlying construction while swapping in string piecing for the background sections.
