Double Friendship Star

This is a nine-patch star built on the same foundation as a basic Friendship Star, but each point unit uses a split half-square triangle: the large triangle stays a single piece, while the triangle opposite it is divided into two smaller triangles of contrasting fabric. That extra seam doubles the points from four to eight, and with the right color choices, it creates the look of two overlapping star layers rather than one simple star.
