About this block

This is a curved-piecing unit, essentially another name for the same construction as Drunkard's Path: a square split by a single curved seam into two pieces, a concave "cave ceiling" arch and a convex quarter-circle. Four of these units, sewn into their own background squares, join together to form a complete circle across the meeting point of the four blocks. Curved seams like this take practice, since easing a curve smoothly without puckers or tucks is a different skill than piecing straight lines, but the payoff is a much softer, more organic look than typical angular patchwork.
