About this block
This is a five-patch design, built as an uneven nine-patch combining half-square triangles, quarter-square triangles, and plain corner squares. It's a good block for a quilter ready to move past basic half-square triangles into quarter-square triangle piecing, and when set with high-contrast fabrics, multiple blocks create a striking secondary pattern where they meet. Quilter's Cache identifies it as an original design rather than a traditional pattern with older roots.
