About this block

This traditional pieced block is a variation on the Churn Dash and Shoo Fly family, built from the same basic squares, rectangles, and half-square triangle units, with the design pulled together entirely through where light and dark fabrics are placed. Because it's a light/dark placement variation rather than a fundamentally different construction, quilters can shift the color arrangement to pull out different secondary patterns across a quilt top.
